After much planning and construction, the new SCU branch at 1575 Lagimodiere at Almey is now open. Our goal for the new branch has always been to create warm, inviting, and accessible environment for all of our members; a goal we believe we have achieved!
This state-of-the-art building features expansive windows that provide unobstructed views both into the branch and out into the community, reflecting the SCU value of working openly and transparently. An indoor waterfall adds to the overall relaxing and positive experience.
The member hall is dotted with teller pods that will get tellers out from behind their traditional counters to deal with members in a more personal way.
Our drive-thru teller window will provide more services than a traditional ATM with the added personal touch of a live teller during regular branch hours. This will help simplify the banking experience for many of our members, especially busy parents with young kids in the car.
Environmentally responsible design and construction has always been a given for SCU, and this four storey branch is no different. Water-conserving plumbing; triple-glazed, argon-filled, low-emission windows; roofing topped with reflective, white thermoplastic olefin to bounce the sun’s heat away; geothermal heating and cooling with over 10 kilometers of pipe and 39 heat pumps; and offices equipped with light switches that automatically turn on and off when staff enter or exit.
The new SCU full-service Lagimodiere branch is truly a symbol of the steady growth SCU has enjoyed right from day one, and will be one of the largest credit union branches in all of Canada.
