Glenn Friesen, FCPA, FCMA
Position: Chief Executive Officer
Glenn has been the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Credit Union since 1998. As CEO of the Credit Union, Glenn reports directly to the Credit Union's board of directors and is responsible for developing the strategic direction, and operation of the Credit Union's business. Prior to 1998 he was President of Penner Foods Incorporated. Glenn graduated as a Certified Management Accountant in 1986 and received the FCMA designation in 2009.
Brent Turman, CPA, CMA, BComm. Hons.
Position: Chief Financial Officer
As the Chief Financial Officer, Brent is responsible for delivering business results, managing organizational risk, and developing and deploying strategy in the areas of Budgeting and Accounting, Financial Management, Treasury and Investments, Centralized Administration, and Knowledge Management. Brent joined SCU in July 2016, bringing with him more than 27 years in the credit union system and 18 years of experience in executive roles. His prior leadership roles have included Accounting and Finance, Human Resources, IT, and Audit and Administration. Brent holds the designation of CPA, CMA and a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree (University of Manitoba). He received his Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation in 2017.
Tim Friesen, BA Hons.
Position: Executive Vice President, Risk Management
Tim began his career with SCU in 1987 in the lending department. During his career, Tim has held numerous positions within SCU and was promoted to Vice President, Risk Management in 2008 and, later, Executive Vice President (EVP), Risk Management in 2014. As EVP, Risk Management, Tim reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for delivering business results and managing organizational risk through the development and deployment of strategy in the areas of risk mitigation and legislative compliance. Tim graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts, Economics degree (hons.) from the University of Manitoba.
Position: Executive Vice President, Corporate Sales
James began his Credit Union career in June of 1984 and joined SCU in July of 1995 in the capacity of a Senior Agriculture / Commercial Lending Account Manager. He has held several Senior Management positions during his time at SCU. In 2008, James was promoted to Vice President of Corporate Lending and in 2017 expanded his role to Executive Vice President of Corporate Sales. James reports directly to the CEO. He is responsible for delivering business results through organizational service delivery channels using development and deployment of strategy in the areas of Commercial, Agriculture and SME lending, including leading SCU's Inter-Provincial Loan Syndication Program.
Celina Philpot, PMP, BComm. Hons.
Position: Executive Vice President, Member Engagement & Brand
Celina has been in the credit union system since 1996, and with SCU since 2011 in the roles of Vice President, Corporate Development, Executive Vice President, Operations and most recently as Executive Vice President, Member Engagement & Brand. As EVP, Member Engagement & Brand, Celina reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for delivering business results and managing organizational risk through the development of strategy in the areas of Retail Sales, Wealth Management, Member Contact Centre, Marketing and Corporate Strategy. Celina is a certified Project Management Professional (Project Management International), has a Masters in Project Management (University of Winnipeg) as well as a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree (University of Manitoba).
Sharon McMahon, MBA, CEC
Position: Vice President, Human Resources
Sharon McMahon has been in the credit union system for 14 years, with 9 years as Vice President Human Resources at Steinbach Credit Union. As VP Human Resources, Sharon reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for delivering business results and managing organizational risk through the development and deployment of strategy in the areas of recruitment, HR policy, employee legislation, payroll, employee relations, compensation, benefits, organizational design and employee development. Sharon graduated with a Masters in Business Administration, Human Resources (Royal Roads University) in 2005 and most recently graduated in 2014 as a Certified Executive Coach (CEC).
Andy Alguire, BA, CISSP
Position: Vice President, Information Technology
Andy Alguire joined Steinbach Credit Union in 2007. As the Vice President of Information Technology (IT) and Project Management Office (PMO), Andy reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for defining and deploying strategy in the areas of data storage and security infrastructure, technology roadmaps, IT policy, IT support services, and project management administration. Prior to joining SCU, he built and led IT teams at SHL SystemHouse/EDS, Richardson Greenshields/RBC, the Government of Canada, and a US-based contact center. Andy is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1990 with an Arts Degree, majoring in Criminology and Computer Science.
