Glenn Friesen, FCPA, FCMA

Position: Chief Executive Officer

Glenn has been the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Credit Union since 1998. As CEO of the Credit Union, Glenn reports directly to the Credit Union's board of directors and is responsible for developing the strategic direction, and operation of the Credit Union's business.  Prior to 1998 he was President of Penner Foods Incorporated. Glenn graduated as a Certified Management Accountant in 1986 and received the FCMA designation in 2009.

Brent Turman, CPA, CMA, BComm. Hons., Chief Financial Officer

Brent Turman, CPA, CMA, BComm. Hons.

Position: Chief Financial Officer

Brent has been in the credit union system for 26 years, recently coming to SCU from another Manitoba credit union where he was Chief Financial Officer. Brent brings varied experiences to the role, having led Accounting & Finance, Human Resources, IT, Audit and Administration teams in the past. As Chief Financial Officer, Brent reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for delivering business results and managing organizational risk through the development and deployment of strategy in the areas of budget and accounting, financial management, treasury and investments, and knowledge management. Brent holds the designation of CPA, CMA as well as a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree (University of Manitoba).

Tim Friesen, BA Hons., Executive Vice President, Risk Management

Tim Friesen, BA Hons.

Position: Executive Vice President, Risk Management

Tim began his career with SCU in 1987 in the lending department. During his career, Tim has held numerous positions within SCU and was promoted to Vice President, Risk Management in 2008 and, later, Executive Vice President (EVP), Risk Management in 2014. As EVP, Risk Management, Tim reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for delivering business results and managing organizational risk through the development and deployment of strategy in the areas of risk mitigation and legislative compliance. Tim graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts, Economics degree (hons.) from the University of Manitoba.

James Gosselin, Executive Vice President, Financial Services

James Gosselin

Position: Executive Vice President, Financial Services

James began his Credit Union career in June of 1984 and joined SCU in July of 1995. He has held several management positions during his time at SCU.  In 2008, James was promoted to Vice President of Corporate Lending and in 2014 promoted to Executive Vice President (EVP) of Financial Services.  As EVP of Financial Services, James reports directly to the CEO. He is responsible for delivering business results through all organizational service delivery channels using development and deployment of strategy in the areas of Retail Services, including Wealth Management, Consumer and Commercial financial services.

Celina Philpot, PMP, BComm. Hons., Executive Vice President, Operations

Position: Executive Vice President, Operations

Celina has been in the credit union system for 20 years, with 5 years at SCU in the roles of Vice President Corporate Development and most recently as Executive Vice President Operations. As EVP Operations, Celina reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for delivering business results and managing organizational risk through the development and deployment of strategy in the areas of Project Management, Administration, Corporate Strategy & Operational Planning and Marketing. Celina is a certified Project Management Professional (Project Management International), has a Masters in Project Management (University of Winnipeg) as well as a Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree (University of Manitoba).  

Sharon McMahon, MBA, CEC, Vice President, Human Resources

Sharon McMahon, MBA, CEC

Position: Vice President, Human Resources

Sharon McMahon has been in the credit union system for 14 years, with 9 years as Vice President Human Resources at Steinbach Credit Union.   As VP Human Resources, Sharon reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for delivering business results and managing organizational risk through the development and deployment of strategy in the areas of recruitment, HR policy, employee legislation, payroll, employee relations, compensation, benefits, organizational design and employee development. Sharon graduated with a Masters in Business Administration, Human Resources (Royal Roads University) in 2005 and most recently graduated in 2014 as a Certified Executive Coach (CEC).

Andy Alquire, BA, CISSP, Vice President, Information Technology

Andy Alquire, BA, CISSP

Position: Vice President, Information Technology

Andy Alguire has been in the credit union system and Vice President Information Technology at Steinbach Credit Union for 8 years. As VP Information Technology, Andy reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for delivering business results and managing organizational sales and service delivery through the development and deployment of strategy in the areas of data storage and security infrastructure, technology roadmaps, IT support services and IT policy and procedures. Prior to 2007, he was with the Federal Government in the IT Department and SHL SystemHouse/EDS where he managed systems and the technology team in their contact centre.  Andy graduated with an Arts Degree, studying Criminology and Computer Science (University of Manitoba) in 1990.
